Green Island is a privately funded pre-school for children aged 2-5, located in Northokkalapa, a poor suburb of Yangon, Myanmar. The school was founded by Khaing Zar, and her story and the history of the school can be found here. Also see the two slideshows that were given to the children’s parents as a visual memory.
Green Island School is always looking for volunteers to help out in the school. As it is privately funded, the school also welcomes donations of children’s clothes, school material, or even small amounts of money. Please see greenislandschool.com for more information on the school, or contact the school via email: school.greenisland@gmail.com.
I am a former volunteer and have become a supporter for Khaing Zar. I’ve set up a donate button on my website for Green Island to help the school, and guarantee that 100% of the money will go towards the school. Please use the Contact menu above if you’d like more information about the school, about volunteering there, or have any other questions.
